Spangdahlem Air Base

Commanded by Colonel Darryl Robertson, Spangdahlem is an USAF Air Force base located in Germany, in the vicinity of Trier, a local city. It is home to the 52 Fighter Wing, which has a primary mission of being always ready in case of emergency, carefully reflected by their motto: "Seek, attack, destroy!" Spangdahlem takes its name from the near-by town of Spangdahlem. Examples of aircraft which can be found at the base are the F-4E/G-33-MC Phantoms, F-16C Block 40B Fighting Falcons, A-10A Thunderbolt IIs and many others.

The Spangdahlem air base was created in 1952 and since then it has served as air base of Germany and, then, with the creation of NATO, it has started its existence as USAF Air Force Base. The base does not have an only logo, it has many, but the essentials are that they fight for their country and for their allies too. The emblems feature different symbols of strength such as swords.

In terms of local attractions, the base has many, all of them can be found in the near-by city of Spangdahlem or in cities like Bitburg or Trier. The housing facilities are very good, but when it comes to public information, Spangdahlem lacks. This is because it has numbers which are top secret, such as the number of recruits on base, the total area of the base and the active missions. However, their last press release, on the 16th of November 2007 had the subject of "Air Force Reserve Command will operate with a smaller force in 2008." The base is very important to the USA.
